Preparation for Coaching
Thank you for coaching Vashon Soccer! Please complete these 4 steps before you step on the field with the kids:
1. Complete 'volunteer' registration when you sign up your player or directly on the Vashon Website. You must "Login" if you have an account or else "Register" if you have never made an account before. On your Account Page, click on the Volunteer link on the left side OR fill out the form while signing up your player.
2. Complete SafeSport Training. Visit https://learning.ussoccer.com/safe-soccer and log in or create an account. USE THE SAME Email, First Name, Last Name as on VashonSoccer.org. ONLY COMPLETE PHASE 1 and DO NOT pay for a background check here. This part can take a two or three hours, so don't put off the training.
3. Complete annual background check via WYSA Affinity/SportsConnect https://wys.affinitysoccer.com/Foundation/Login.aspx. Use the same email address as you used on the VashonSoccer.org site. Go to https://wys-bgc.affinitysoccer.com/reg/Public/registration/RegistrationSelections.aspx?domain=wys-bgc.affinitysoccer.com. Click "Register" near the top right. You may need to log in again. Fill out the form. Believe it or not, once you have found the form, this is the easiest one to navigate.
**NOTE - if you have used the same login credentials, your US Soccer account should be tied to your Affinity/SportsConnect account. You can see your "Certificates" in the My Account section within Affinity/SportsConnect.
Optional. Complete US Soccer 4v4 Course (or better) at https://dcc.ussoccer.com/
Once you log in, navigate to the Courses tab and select the Grassroots Courses link. The 4v4 course costs $25. Once you have completed it, the club will reimburse you. Even if you are coaching an older group, this course will give you a foundation of working with kids.
If you run into trouble or just have questions during this process, please contact Nicole at [email protected].
We have also created our own Coaching Code of Conduct. We have put a lot of thought into it and it reflects the values that we have as a board and as a club. This is not just lip service. We really believe in this. Please read and think through our Code of Conduct.Volunteers Under Age 18
If you would like to coach but are under the age of 18, please first contact Nicole at [email protected] for assistance with your Affinity/SportsConnect account.
